Special education paraprofessionals assist students with special needs under the direction of a certified teacher. They are responsible for assisting the teacher in daily classroom activities, helping special needs students by providing support for their physical needs, emotional health and safety, affirming their abilities, and striving to promote dignity in all relationships.
In order to provide support for student's physical needs, special education paraprofessionals may be required to lift students, assist with toileting needs, and maintain the safety of students who are highly mobile and at times difficult to contain. This position requires the ability to lift, provide physical assistance, and remain calm while working with emotionally and behaviorally challenging students.
Applicants who are taking college classes must be available to work eight-hour days and take college classes in the evenings.
Education Required: High School Diploma or GED
Experience Required: Experience working with special education students is a must. **This may include babysitting, volunteer work, church group, care of siblings/minors or educational prep-programs.**

Physical/Mental Demands: Must be physically and mentally capable of working with students who have mental and physical limitations; Standing for long periods of time and some heavy lifting
